To us, GUS Leagues *is* the community.
First, thank you for checking on us, we’re safe and mostly dry. Second, regardless of venue status we’re not hosting league play until after Labor Day. Please take care of your safety needs and, if you are fortunate and capable enough to do so, volunteer. Volunteer here: redcross.org/volunteer or here: volunteer.bakerripley.org
GUS Leagues will be supporting the Greater Houston community in a number of ways in the coming days and weeks.

The SHOU Drive
Today, our friends in Houston need our help. According to Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs, people are unable to focus on anything unless their basic physiological and safety needs are met. We are asking you to help us do just that. The SHOU (Shoes for Houston) Drive is our way of joining in the Hurricane Harvey relief efforts by supplying people with a decent pair of shoes to walk, run and/or go to work out in.
Please join in with us, GUS Leagues, Kiel Colon Cancer Foundation and Sneaker Summit, as we collect athletic shoes to donate to the survivors of Hurricane Harvey. The SHOU Drive will start on Tuesday, September 5th, will run all month, and culminate at our Grown Up Games event on September 30th. Please send new or lightly used shoes to the following addresses.
We'll have labeled boxes for drop-off at each of the following Houston locations:
Business hours (9 AM - 6 PM)
Evenings during league play (6 PM - 10 PM)
**If you're playing in a ongoing league in the month of September, you can drop with any staff person and we'll get the shoes added to our drive. Find our locations here.**
We’ll be following up with volunteer opportunities at some of the community centers we host league play at that serve affected areas, starting with Wesley Community Center and Ripley House Community Center.
Our thoughts and efforts are with our resilient city, forever #HoustonStrong.
Email email@example.com for more information on other ways to assist.
About the Kiel Colon Cancer Foundation:
At the Kiel Colon Cancer Foundation, our mission is to decrease the number of preventable deaths caused by colon cancer through education and awareness initiatives, encouraging healthy lifestyle choices and supporting colon cancer research. We reach the masses through our social media channels and a slew of fun events that are usually sneaker related. We have used our platform to encourage healthy diets and exercise, to raise awareness for the terrible disease and to bring a community of sneaker lovers together for a common cause outside of shoes.
